SAFEGUARDING

Our Commitment

MOR Church is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of:

  • Children (under 18 years of age)
  • Young people
  • Vulnerable adults

We recognise our responsibility to ensure that our website and online platforms are safe, respectful, and compliant with safeguarding legislation in the United Kingdom.

This policy applies to:

  • Our official website
  • Linked social media platforms
  • Online forms and data collection tools
  • Public media content (photos, videos, livestreams)

Legal & Regulatory Framework

This policy operates in line with:

  • The Children Act 1989 & 2004
  • Working Together to Safeguard Children (HM Government)
  • Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006
  • UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018

Online Safety Principles

MOR Church will ensure that:

  1. No content published online places a child or vulnerable adult at risk.
  2. Personal details of children are never published (e.g., full names with identifiable images).
  3. Sensitive personal information is never displayed publicly.
  4. Online contact routes are monitored and responsibly managed.
  5. Safeguarding concerns received through the website are escalated promptly.

Images & Video of Children

We take particular care regarding photography and videography.

MOR Church will:
  • Obtain written parental/guardian consent before publishing identifiable images of children.
  • Avoid publishing full names alongside images of children.
  • Avoid identifying schools, locations, or regular patterns that may compromise safety.
  • Remove content immediately upon request if safeguarding concerns arise.

We will not:
  • Publish images that could be considered exploitative or inappropriate.
  • Publish images of children without consent.

Online Forms & Contact Submissions

All website forms (e.g., “Connect With Us”, “Volunteer”, “Prayer Request”) are:

  • Monitored by designated responsible persons.
  • Secured using appropriate data protection measures.
  • Used only for stated purposes.
  • Not used to collect unnecessary sensitive data.

Any safeguarding disclosure received via website forms will be:

  1. Logged securely.
  2. Referred immediately to the Church Safeguarding Lead.
  3. Managed in accordance with MOR Church Safeguarding Procedures.

Social Media & External Platforms

Our website links to external platforms (e.g., YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp communities).

While we do not control third-party platforms, we:

  • Moderate our official channels.
  • Remove harmful or inappropriate comments where possible.
  • Report concerning behaviour.
  • Provide clear conduct expectations in online communities.

Livestream & Public Media

When livestreaming or publishing services:

  • Congregants are made aware services may be recorded.
  • Camera positioning avoids isolating children unnecessarily.
